My husband & I went to Scotland last year and loved every minute
we were there. However our time in Skye was almost a spiritual experience. I have never seen a landscape as indiscribable as Skye.  I don't think anyone could ever go there and not want to go back again.  We are from Alabama in the states and I felt as at home there, as if I were back in the south.  All, not some, of the people were friendly, kind and talkative. If you want to go to a home away from home, go to Scotland.   Also, I am in a wheelchair and was somewhat apprenhensive about the accessibility our of the
country.  I found out that they are, in some cases, better than in the
states.  They have a men's room, a ladies room and a handicap accessible room which is kept lock unless you ask for a key. Therefore those facilities are very, very clean and neat.  this was in almost every establishment.  So those of you who have disabilities, don't be afraid to travel in Scotland. The cabs are wheelchair accessible too.
For beauty beyond compare, comfort and friendleness, I don't think there could be a better place to vacation.

What is it about this place?!!  My husband and I travel frequently but October of 1999 was our first time in Scotland.  We spent five marvelous days in Edinburgh and then travelled the Highlands and spent 3 days on Skye.    I have been able to think of nothing else since then!  The scenery was natural, nearly untouched by "tourism" and breathtaking!  The people were warm and friendly and helpful.  The food was wonderful.....all in all, my heart was deeply touched in a way I shall never get over.  I dream of the day I will return and longingly ache to be back on Skye.
