-  Kelso -

We went for a day's trip to Kelso, it is not too far from Edinburgh. It is a lovely town nestling on the River Tweed, my young son was delighted as he was able to buy a fishing permit for £2.50. The town has many individual shops of every description, an ruined abbey and it is close to Floors Castle being only half a mile away. The car park as we entered the town was very cheap twenty pence for an hour but if you go into the town square you can only park for one hour and not return within two hours so it is better to use the pay one. It has beautiful churches with large spires and it is so picturesque. We went to the Cross Keys Inn situated in the square and high tea from 5p.m. till 7p.m. was very nice and priced fairly. The food was very fresh. I would certainly recommend a day's trip here.
