I don't know why, but I have always desired to visit Scotland. Even
as a child. And I am happy to say I was able to go & not just dream about it. My wife
& I just returned to the States ( Oct. ) from a trip there. It was our first time in
Scotland and can't find the words to express it. Wonderful! Beautiful! Exciting! And
supprisingly, not expensive. The people were friendly. The food was great! " I
especially enjoy breakfast with hot tomatoes and mushrooms". The Lamb &
mint yogart was a first. But not the last if I can find it here. And the tea was supurb.
We stayed in Ballater and travelled about from there. Visiting of course the Castles. But
really enjoyed the meuseums as well. The view from the mountain tops were breathtaking.
Walking among the heather was a learning experience. And our Pony Trek ( We call it trail
riding or horse back riding here )was a very relaxing time. Riding through sun drenched
woods.( We had beautiful weather ) A bubbling stream and the song of birds the only noise.
( Along with the ocassional whinny from a horse). Can't be beat. It was time and money
well spent.! Don't know when, but I plan to return.

I plan to be in Iverness May 12th through May 26th.
This will be
my first visit to Scotland. My grandmother was a Sutherland and her
ancesters immigrated in 1750. I live in a small town in northern Maine, U.S.A., and
am anxious to see the everyday life of the Scottish person.

We have just spent the most wonderful vacation of our lives
in the quant little town of Inverness. Just a short distance from Culloden Moor,
where the famous battle was fought. It is a must a wonderful place to visit and
everyone just so friendly. Including John with his kilt and sporen. There is
even a Mcdonalds in Inverness, where I guess the first Big Mac came from!!!
