Public Telephones
Scotland has many public
telephones mostly situated around busy public areas such as shopping centres or on
corners at busy roads, public phones can also be found in most pubs, petrol stations, bus
and train stations and even some shops. Public phones in small villages are usually
located outside the local shop or post office, most of the public phones in Scotland will
be able to make international calls direct without the need to call the operator. The
minimum charge for any call is 10p. Some of the newer phones can accept phonecards as well
as coins. Phonecards are handy for those who don't wont to carry any money around or just
like to have one for peace of mind, you just never know when you might need to call
someone. Phonecards can be bought from most post offices and shops. Please note
that not all phones have a phonecard facility especially in the smaller towns and
villages.
