Do I Need A Voltage Converter ?
Always check your appliance to
see what voltage it runs on, most appliances are marked with the required voltage input.
If your appliance is marked "input 110v" then do not attempt to use it in the UK
without the use of a voltage converter, you will damage it. Some appliances may have a
dual voltage input, if it has a 240v setting then you will not need to use a voltage
converter.
Do I Need A Plug Adapter ?
If your appliance has only got a
2 pin plug on the end of the cable, then you will need to use a plug adapter for your
appliance, for it to fit into the power outlet sockets in the UK. The power outlets in the
UK only take 3-pin plugs (rectangle shaped pins).
Word of Warning !!!
Many Hotels and other accommodations in the
UK have a 110v socket fitted in their rooms marked "SHAVERS ONLY ", these
sockets are intended for low powered appliances, do not attempt to plug high powered
appliances such as blow-dryers into them. You will damage the socket.
