| Claypotts is a delight. The rectangular central block is flanked on opposite
corners by two round towers that are corbelled out to the square at roof level. Two
turnpikes are located in the angles and the open battlements are unusual features. The
castle dates from 1569-88, being built by the Strachans, though ownership passed to John
Graham of Claverhouse. |
