More than 22
rows of over 250 small standing stones are laid out on this hillside. The obvious care
which has gone into this construction combined with utter lack of any obvious purpose
renders this one of Scotland's most mystifying ancient monuments. Dating from the
Neolithic time, It has been suggested that the intricate fan-shape of this and similar
sites was intended to help chart the movements of the moon. |
