Dunalastair
Hotel
 |
| The
Dunalastair Hotel has a long tradition of real 'highland hospitality', having been built
as an inn soon after the Battle of Culloden by the returning soldiers. It remained as such
for well over 100 years until its development into a hotel at the end of the 19th century
under the guiding eye of Major General Alistair Macdonald, commander of the forces In the bountiful heart of the
highlands, the Dunalastair is in an enviable position to reap the best of Scotland's
larder. The cuisine places a great emphasis on local game; its quality and depth of
flavour are allowed to shine through dishes of generous size and subtle creativity. Along
with any meal there is the chance to sample a selection of fine malts on offer as well as
an extensive range of wines and spirits. The public bar provides ample entertainment and
the chance to meet locals and other visitors alike.
All 25 bedrooms are
individually decorated, all are a delight to the eye and speak softly of the care in which
the interior of the Dunalastair has been preserved. Bathrooms are spacious, many having
original roll top baths, beautiful rustic tiles and are serviced by plenty of hot, peaty
water, all making for perfect relaxation.
The hotel is
equipped with two comfortable lounges, one with large suites and a grand piano. There are
two restaurants serving seasonal Scottish fare and fine wines. A locals bar is situated at
the rear of the hotel. The Dunalastair truly is the perfect place to enjoy a traditional
highland hotel and to share memories of yester year. |
